Product Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a complete guideline to ensure that workers and emergency personnel have proper procedures for working with and managing a specific substance. It is provided to prevent mishaps and expensive downtimes.

It helps to know that the products classified as ‘Articles’ are exempt under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard 1910.1200. This includes welding accessories such as gloves and jackets and small components like plugs and cords. They do not require safety data sheets or labels.

Certifications and Approvals

ISO9001

ISO 9001 is the world’s most widely recognized Quality Management System (QMS). It belongs to the ISO9000 family of quality management system standards, and helps organizations to meet the expectations and needs of their customers, amongst other benefits.

Product and Production Certifications

AWS – American Welding Society

The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919, as a nonprofit organization with a global mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying. Nexal products conform to AWS specifications as listed in each respective product description.

AWS A5.10 specifies exact requirements for TIG and MIG welding consumables and identifies them as ‘Alloy Classifications.’ They are evaluated to ensure proper safety criteria for each alloy. R for TIG items and ER for MIG products establishes the approved limits for different welding consumables.

It helps to know that you can use some aluminum alloys for TIG welding processes but not for the MIG technique because it produces more metallic vapours than the TIG method. Some essential standards include AWS A5.01, AWS A5.10, and AWS D1.2.

CWB – Canadian Welding Bureau

The Canadian Welding Bureau was formed by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) over 60 years ago. The purpose of the Welding Bureau is to administer Canada’s national welding standards, which are embedded in the national building code and other industry specific documents.

ABS – American Bureau of Shipping

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), a New York not-for-profit corporation, has been committed to setting standards for safety and excellence as one of the world’s leading ship classification societies.

ABS 5356, 5183

TUV – TUV Rheinland

TUV – Conformity of Factory Production Control

As an independent, neutral third party, TÜV Rheinland tests, monitors, develops, promotes and certifies products, equipment, processes and management systems as well as services on the basis of statutory specifications and other relevant performance benchmarks and standards.
